CSI – ILLOWA Chapter Meeting for Members and Future Members

February 3, 2010

To all members and potential members:

The purpose of this message is to update all of you with some recent decisions of the ILLOWA Board in regards to our chapter and the monthly programs.

The November meeting/tour was cancelled as a result of no reservations. December was postponed to January. I had to cancel the January meeting due to personal reasons. The Board has unanimously decided to have the February meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Lodge. The meeting will be brief and it will be held in conjunction with Stetson’s Building Products seminar. The seminars are the result of a joint effort between CSI and Stetson Building Products. Because the seminars are popular and well attended, the Board decided to use this opportunity to address both current and potentially future CSI members.

Joining the seminar will be J. Gerard Capell, AIA, CSI, CCS. Gerard is the CSI Institute Director for the North Central Region. He will have some brief announcements in regards to CSI and our region. I will also have some announcements that will address our need to grow our membership and to get people more involved with the leadership of this chapter.

The ILLOWA Chapter was formally organized in 1959. We currently have 16 members. Four of those members (Rob Wilson, Jesse Borcher, Kevin Jenkins, Greg Ward) make up the Board. We do the best we can with such limited leadership. If you have ever been interested in joining a professional organization or becoming more involved with this chapter, now is the time to act. The wide range of construction related professionals’ representing the membership makes CSI a very diverse professional organization.

The plans to have evening meetings for the first four months of 2010 are on-hold. The Board needs to see if there is enough interest to justify making this change. If it is determined to be a favorable change, we will consider it for next year. The March CSI Chapter meeting will also be in conjunction with the last Stetson seminar on March 11th. We are working on a program for April and the golf outing for May is still planned.

We can see the potential this chapter has to offer to its members. We have some great ideas to make it more enjoyable and energetic. It is that vision that inspires us to make this effort to generate growth, recharge the chapter, and maintain the purpose of CSI. Please make an effort to attend February’s meeting and consider getting involved with our chapter and help us grow.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rob Wilson
